LFM Lunch Program

In 2013, LFM recognized the need for a permanent program that would provide schools with funding for student lunches. Through grants and donations LFM was able to provide an adequate supply of food to students in disadvantaged communities.

LFM lunch program provides a nutritious meal that contains one-third of the recommended dietary allowance of necessary nutrients. For parents, the program offers a convenient method of providing a nutritionally balanced lunch for free. For schools, the program enhances children's learning abilities by contributing to their physical and mental well being. Studies have shown that children whose nutritional needs are met have fewer attendance and discipline problems and are more attentive in class.

  • Meals are FREE to children and teens ages 1 through 18
  • One (1) lunch per child.
  • No application or proof of income is needed.
  • Food served on first come - first served basis.
  • All recipients must practice social distancing and wear a mask to receive a lunch.

LFM lunch program provides nutritionally balanced meals to children as part of their regular school day. Our program is open to all enrolled students at the selected school campus. Free meals shall be provided to  each student that attends school the first day of each week.

School meals are a powerful educational support: improving behavior, ability to focus and academic performance.

SCHOOL MEALS IMPROVE LEARNING:

  • Help students  stay focused on the task at hand: School meals improve students’ ability to focus and reduce behavior problems.
  • Reducing missed class time: Access to meals at school improves students' attendance and reduces tardiness.
  • Providing the nutritional foundation: School meals provide students with the nutritional foundation that has been shown to improve student test scores and academic performance

LFM free lunch program is a stress relievers for families, whose budgets may be stretched beyond the blinkered presumptions of strict eligibility requirements. It also saves time: It’s tough enough shuffling kids off to school in the morning without packing a lunch on top of it. As you might surmise, surveys show that these tasks tend to be shouldered by women; their plight, was made so rivetingly plain during the COvid-19 pandemic. It makes practical sense to perform the entire school lunch process at scale, rather than individualizing it within private homes.
